Video-based learning, revisited
I had a discussion with the multimedia programmer in my team on creating video-based learning modules. The current problem that I think we will face is the bandwidth on the local network. We have been trying to run a few modules with video through an embedded windows media player. Primarily I see that the video clips are at least 3 minutes to 8 minutes.
I know that I face two important issues where I need to find the solution.
1. Change Windows Media Player to Flash Video (FLV)
2. Keep the footage to less than 2 minutes each and splice content to snippets mapped to the last possible level of topics.
I have cut out a path for the research. I shall incubate this thought and get into trying different solutions for the next few days. I do not want to use a streaming server. I'm sure I will see some result soon. Comments from the cosmos are welcome.

1 Comments:
I personally have not attended any video based trainings but I have my reservations for it. In my opinion, 1. they lack the interactivity & 2. if the sessions are long, the interest definitely dwindles unless the purpose is very very specific.
Also, to shoot the video (for interactions) you have to do the SB.
I feel it would be of good use if there is some technical course for which we might use clippings of the courses. (like we normally use!)
Comment too long? :-)
